I have quite a few male clients that don't really like coming out of a massage smelling too much like they came out of a day spa. That's where this particular mix comes into play.
7 drops Roman Chamomile (anti-inflammatory) 7 drops Marjoram (aches, pains and cramps) 8 drops Rosemary (soreness) 6 drops Thyme (fatigue) 10 drops Vetiver (fatigue and stiffness) using a 4 oz glass bottle, fill the rest with pure jojoba oil I like this mix because it's not very floral. In fact, it's kind of woodsy and comforting because the aroma just reminds me of hanging out on a hiking trail and enjoying the scenery. I'll start a deep tissue massage with a few effleurage strokes (long, relaxing strokes) on the larger muscles such as the quadriceps, hamstrings or back (pending on the sport or profession that the client is in), and I'll notice a difference in the reaction of the muscle. It usually tends to soften a bit faster for me to be able to work into. By the end of the massage, I'll also notice that the client is usually revitalized and ready to get back into their day! (I think that smelling good also contributes to feeling good, and I just go with that =) )

As an essential oil advocate, I created a massage oil to use after training walks and during the event to help keep my muscles ready for the next day. Essential oils are terrific for complimenting normal body functions, so it is important to do everything else right, such as the stretching and keeping the muscles warm, as well as staying properly hydrated and eating well. |
